Raising Awareness One Stroke At A Time: Neil Agius Completes 100Km Swim In 28Hrs
It's that time of year again – the Wave of Change challenge is back and its founder, Neil Agius, just swam over 100km from Sicily to Malta to help raise awareness for the local environment.
Neil started out his race on Thursday at 05:15 from Punta Braccetto in Ragusa, and arrived in Malta at the St Julian's Waterpolo & Aquatic Club on Friday at 09:24.
He was later joined by local athletes Andrew Azzopardi, Hannah Cutajar, Steve Grech and Richard Zerafa.
The aim of this campaign is to educate the public when it comes to the disposal of single-use plastics and the harm that they cause to the environment.
We at Yellow were nominated to take part in this challenge. Our team members found and threw away any plastics – both in urban areas and out in nature. In all we have collected over 20 pieces of single-use plastics. We also nominated three other companies to partake in the event – TVM, 89.7 Bay and Times of Malta.
