Malta is brimming with talent when it comes to the local music scene, so it's naturally hard for most of us to keep up with new or emerging artists. 

From DJs to singers and complete bands — here are some stellar Maltese musicians who are leaving a unique mark on the local music scene.

1. NO YES NO 

This energetic duo is made up of the incomparable Francesca Mercieca and Thom Smith. The true personification of raw sugar and unparalleled vocal beauty, No Yes No released their first single last May. The raw energy and soulful intensity of 'Stocktake' are quite literally what dreams are made of. 

If you are into arresting sounds and enchanting vocals, this British-Maltese indie rock band will definitely become your favourite.

 

 

2. Nioxin Vitae

A staple in the Maltese electronic scene, Nioxin Vitae is an ever-evolving individual who presents the island with a range of diverse and beautiful tracks. 

His eternally growing repertoire is made up of a progressive mosaic of raw melodies and intricate sounds. A sublime treat for anyone who loves soothing and eclectic sounds.

 

 

3. KRhyme Musick 

If something were to be defined as fresh and cathartic, it would be this. KRhyme Musick is super talented — both lyrically and musically. His lyrics come with a stinging and near-pungent feeling thanks to his gift with words and articulateness when it comes to the Maltese language. 

 

 

 

4. Peach 

Peach is a bit like a time machine into the golden era of rock. A sweet and nostalgic sense is what hits you first when you hear this ensemble. With their upbeat live performances, these new kids on the block are fresh off the bus and still getting started. However, this is a band of talented musicians you should definitely keep an eye out for. 

 

5. KYM 

The hypnotic and soothing essence is the first thing to hit you when listening to this pretty single. Even though KYM has performed with numerous local acts, her music style is currently developing and shapeshifting into a new form thanks to this new exploratory chapter. 

 

 

6. Robert Farrugia

For the lovers of ambient, experimental and completely ethereal music. Robert Farrugia holds an extensive and prominent sound when it comes to genres and styles. His music holds near-otherworldly volumes and is often interlaced with the classical, minimalistic and experimental – a true treat for any ambient music lover.

 

 

 

7. Roza

This alternative band is all about delightful music and feel-good sounds. Roza have been around for a year or so – thankfully — their enchanting and charming sound will definitely win your heart if you still haven't given them a listen. 

Their catchy songs and crisp sound will keep you on your toes – Roza are total all-rounders, from vocals to instrumentals and lyrics.
