Looking for a deaf association in Malta? The Deaf People Association is the only association in Malta for Deaf person. We represent around 400 D/deaf people in Malta. We are members of the European Union of the Deaf (EUD) and the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD). Since its foundation in 1973, our main aims are to ensure that Deaf people have equal opportunities to live an independent life of the highest possible quality and to raise awareness about deaf issues.

For this purpose, we have been fighting for years to have Maltese Sign Language (LSM)  recognized. We also make our demands heard by government, for example among our extended list of demands we ask for an effective interpretation system with more sign language interpreters.

Our association is intended to organize many activities for Deaf people so that they can meet and socialize. We cover varied activities such as workshops Read Moreor conferences and all sort of events many of which are sports competitions like football pool and darts. Plus, we support Deaf people by providing them with information on existing facilities available for them.

We also encourage international contacts with similar organizations abroad and takes part in international meetings. For instance, each year we participate in the European Union of the Deaf’s General Assembly or in the International Conference of Sign Language Teachers. Plus, some of our members participate in the EUDY Junior Camp 2018 in Slovakia or in Miss/Mister Deaf International.
