As an entity, we at the Hamrun Local Council hold a wide range of roles and responsibilities designed to keep our town clean and present residents with adequate living conditions. From local leisurely activities to the collection of garbage, the range of service areas that we are responsible for are ones which are aimed towards presenting our town with strategic improvements designed for the betterment of our residents’ lives.
We at the Hamrun Local Council have designed and implemented a choice of programmes in relation to local waste collection, waste management, recycling, street cleaning and waste disposal. We are also in charge of enforcing and carrying out the enforcement of bylaws related to littering and general maintenance. These actions were designed by the Hamrun Local Council in order to keep our town clean and in optimal sanitary conditions.

In our town, one can still find remnants of Malta’s railway system, which used to pass along Triq il-Kbira San Guzepp. In Hamrun one can find a choice of notable buildings that are of cultural and historical importance, such as the Chapel of Our Lady of Antocia and parts of the Wignacourt aqueducts. This means that we as a local council, are also in charge of any extensions, alterations and demolitions of buildings.
