During period 2024-2025 I used Ewi Home Services Ltd to manage and let my house for period of 11-12 months due to being in the UK because a family member was terminally ill.
I intermittently visited the property briefly a couple of times during this period. Upon visiting the house, I found it to be very dirty, a few examples being (but not limited to) finger prints, general dust, under furniture not cleaned, bathrooms not cleaned properly, dirty kitchen utensils and oven etc. Also, furniture damaged, items left out on the roof terrace and bedding smelt fusty due to not airing the property. I raised this early on into the contract period, along with the rental charge being low; this was evident by the low income generated after EWI Home Services costs. I was abruptly advised by the owner (Ed) who's tone was very rude; he sets the rental prices and the cleaning is to a good standard.
At this point I felt trapped in a self-serving contract. Not having any control over the rental values or standard of cleaning/management - I had to rise above it to ensure matters were kept civil, he continued with the full term which has recently ended.
Having reviewed the small number of online reviews from EWI guests staying at the house; the property scores really low in cleanliness and almost every review mentions this along with not venting the ground floor.
My income after costs was under: 1,800 euro to let the house for one year! In addition to this I had a collection of other costs and spent around 10 days repairing and cleaning the property during my short visits.
My experience was really poor with Ewi Home Services Ltd and the last quarter was let at such a low price; I had to pay EWI to let the house. Subsidising EWI poor management and inability to set the correct rental value. I would not use them again and I certainly would not recommend any other to use them. Its arguably one of the worst decisions I have ever made.
If despite this; you do decide to use them, you will need to contractually set a minimum letting price and a minimum cleaning and repairs standard/charge to ensure your not left in the same position as I was. I would also insert a brake clause in your favour if they failed to meet the minimum standard.
