Learn all about Emmanuel Delicata Winemaker Ltd, Wineries & Wine Estates in Paola, - Malta
Delicata is Malta's foremost winery, where making great wines is a family's engagement spanning four generations of winemaking.
The Delicata story begins more than 100 years ago, as early as 1907.
All this time, the company has remained in the capable hands of the proprietor, the Delicata family, who still runs what is arguably Malta's most successful winery, producing over 50 different wines.
The Delicata winery has earned a reputation for being firmly at the forefront of the recent Maltese winemaking revival. While believing in the potential of international grape varieties grown in Malta, the Delicata winery has been and keeps on advocating for the use of the two endemic Girgentina and Gellewza grapes, too.
Names of boutique wines like Gran Cavalier, Grand Vin de Hauteville, Medina, Victoria Heights, Pjazza Regina and the semi-sparkling Frizzantes reflect everything a modern wine consumer wishes for fruit-driven fresh wines that offer flavour, consistency and quality.
Today, Delicata's Read Moreportfolio of wines has won over a century of international awards, including gold, silver, and bronze medals in Bordeaux, Burgundy, and London.
Recently, fourth-generation winemakers Mario, Michael, and Matthew joined their father, George Delicata, at the winery's helm. Together, in unison, they are poised to keep alive the Delicata legacy of crafting fine Maltese heritage wines of pedigree.
Delicata was also the first winery to celebrate the grape harvest with the country's first wine festival in 2000. Delicata Classic Wine Festivals are held each year in August at the beautiful Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta and in Nadur, the viticultural heart of Gozo, in September.
The Delicata winery is normally open for business every weekday. Wines can also be purchased online for contactless delivery in Malta and Gozo.
Wine tasting sessions are only organised by appointment (no walk-ins).
