It doesn't get drearier than January and we can all agree that it's extremely tempting to replace going out with cosy time at home. However, there are still some pretty cool events going around the Maltese islands this month that are worth making the effort for.

We've rounded up what's on in Malta during the coldest month of the year.

The Valletta Baroque Festival

The Valletta Baroque Festival returns for its eighth edition on the 10 January with a jam-packed calendar of events featuring Maltese and international artists. This year's programme features 31 different concerts in 17 beautiful venues.  So, if you enjoy hearing pieces by Monteverdi, Bach, Vivaldi and many more; we suggest clicking here for the full programme and all the details.

Il-Festa taċ-Ċitru

The much-loved Festa taċ-Ċitru is back on the 19 January at San Anton Gardens. Pop by between 09:00 and 17:00 to buy juicy citrus, fruit and yummy treats in aid of The Community Chest Fund.

So, enjoy the beautiful gardens, stock up on your vitamin C while contributing to a great cause!

Bootleg Beatles

All you need is love right? May we add that a fun concert doesn't hurt either.

If you are a Beatles fan or simply enjoy listening to some great live music, then this is the perfect night out for you on the 18 or 19 January. The Bootleg Beatles have been belting out the band's iconic tunes since 1980 and have since received praise for their uncanny resemblance and technical accuracy.

The Whisky Festival

Dry January is a great way to kick-off the new year's health goals. However, if you're a whisky fan, we suggest taking a little break on the 25 January to attend The Whisky Festival. Enjoy a broad selection of single malts, delicious food pairings and entertainment for all the family at The Limestone Heritage.

Check out all the details here.

President's Fun Run

The President's Fun Run is back on the 26 January and it's time to do some cardio for good! The event kicks off at 10 am with various options for different fitness levels.

All proceedings go to The Malta Community Chest Fund.

City Lights Valletta

A trip to the movies is a great winter outing and this quaint cinema in the heart of Valletta is perfect if you enjoy something that's a little off the beaten track.

This iconic cinema screens old favourites spanning different genres and eras together with a great selection of drinks, spirits and popcorn.

January will never be able to compete with the warm summer months or festive December when it comes to events. Nonetheless, there are still some great activities to be enjoyed throughout the month...so put on your cosiest outerwear, head out and have fun!
