There is much more to moving than packing your things up and transporting them to a new location. Even though on the surface it looks like an easy process, organising a move is seldom effortless. From planning to organising, clearing out your home and moving your belongings securely, a stable relocation is a tough job to carry out. Here are seven tips and tricks for a hassle-free move by us at TNS Furniture Movers.

1. Purge your home

First things first, in order to pack up your stuff, you will first need to clean out any items which are no longer wanted. Be they clothes, furnishings or other household supplies. This will not only present you with a lighter load to carry, but you can also give these items to those in need.

Moving with items that you no longer need will only give you heaps of unnecessary weight to carry and less space in your new home. Another plus to purging your home is that it will present you with an amazing fresh start.

2. Create a schedule..

..And stick to it. Organisation is a complete and utter virtue when it comes to moving into a new home. You will be able to save yourself tons of stress. In your schedule you should include moving and packing dates, along with a day allocated for furniture measurements, updating your accounts, utilities, subscriptions and address. In this schedule you should also include any meal plans to get rid of frozen foods and other perishable items in your kitchen.

3. Take photos of your electronics' connections

This is one of the most useful tips we can think of. Unplugging your electronics means that you will have to replug them again in your new home. By taking photos of where all the wires are supposed to go, you will save yourself the helplessness and frustration of not being able to connect your computer again.

4. Pack an essentials box

This will be your first-day box. Thanks to this useful gem, you will be able to find all of the essentials you need on your first post-move day. Here you can pack toiletries, clothes, coffee, a couple of dishes and other stuff which you will need on your first day or night after moving. Thanks to this nifty box, you will not waste any of your time rummaging through all of your boxes to find an outfit, your coffee machine or your laptop charger.

5. Organise items by room

This is a bit of an obvious tip, but you'd be surprised at how many people get it wrong. It is important to organise and label all boxes according to which room they need to be placed in. it will save you loads of time if all boxes are placed in their correct room prior to being unpacked.

6. Protect fragile items

If you are packing up any fragile items, such as mugs, plates or ceramics, it is best to wrap them in packing paper, bubble wrap or any other suitable packing materials. We at TNS Furniture Movers can provide you with a selection of packing paper, document storage solutions, clothes cartons and packing boxes too.

7. Invest in a set of vacuum bags

Having vacuum storage bags around the home can be extremely useful for items like quilts, bedding and seasonal clothing. By using these nifty bags, you will protect your clothing and bedding, while saving up on space. These storage bags offer your clothes a water and air-tight advantage. Apart from that, they are renowned for their resistance to mildew, dust and odours. A great way to preserve your clothing and save space at the same time.
