5 Tips That Will Help You Survive Your Self-Quarantine Without Going Nuts

Ok, so you're officially on self-quarantine.

You've exhausted yourself browsing through your Netflix account, binge-watched three series and ate cheese straight out of your fridge. What's next?

Luckily for you, we at Yellow have compiled a short list of things you can do while on self-quarantine.

1. Sort out your house

When was the last time you scrubbed your microwave's interior?

Clean up all of the forgotten spots in your home, from cupboard tops to that bottom fridge drawer which nobody ever cleans. Flip your mattress, clean your ceiling fan, defrost your freezer, you name it. Clean out your home like there's no tomorrow.

2. Pick up a book

We're taking a wild guess here, but we are pretty sure that you have a book or two running around the house waiting to be read. You can use this as a good excuse to brush up on your Maltese vocabulary. Books such as Fil-Parlament ma' jikbrux Fjuri by Oliver Friggieri and Il-Hajja Sigrieta Tan-Nanna Genoveffa by Trevor Zahra are a great start.

If you have no new books available, you can always dig up that old dusty Qawsalla copy from your drawer.

3. Learn something new

Being stuck at home is the best time for you to learn something new. Distractions around you will (most probably) be minimised, meaning that you can sit back and watch a documentary. You can find heaps of different subjects to choose from, use the internet to your advantage by increasing your knowledge, at least it will help you while away time.

4. Listen to an album

Music is a great way to pass time, and thanks to the internet, the world is quite literally your oyster. You can dig up an old album from an artist you really like, or you could even discover new genres and artists thanks to the magical power of Youtube.

5. Take a break

Using your mobile phone or laptop for long hours can present you with chronic neck pain or even vision problems, so why not take this time alone to wind down? Taking up meditation is a wonderful way to relax and control the CoronaVirus-induced anxiety you are probably getting. Another great benefit of meditation is that it promotes both emotional and mental health.

Here's what the staff at Yellow will be doing during their quarantine

Danica: Harry Potter marathon, keep writing my book, read a book, watch a series, play with my daughter, eat comfort food, beauty treatments.

Javier: I would catch up on my series, eat, read and spend time with my flatmates playing board games perhaps... Besides work.

Geraldine: I'd work remotely, then for the rest of my time I'll fit in some exercise (stationary bike, body weights and yoga) and invent new recipes for my blog.

Rebecca: I would keep up to date with work, repaint my bedroom, repot my plants and start a new series.

Jan: I am going to lock myself in my cozy apartment in Zurrieq and stay there until the situation gets better. I have supplies for 1,5 month. Obviously I will be working hard on growing our social media channels and communicating with my family in Prague.

Krystabel: Working from my bed in my pj's, watching a lot of series, reading some good books, cooking keto food accompanied by a glass of wine or two and picking on my rabbit Mila.

Chiara: I will be spending my quarantine working, reading books, cooking and catching up on sleep.
