There is nothing like the flavour and healthy buzz from a fresh fruit smoothie. Once considered the preserve of the super-healthy, they are now mainstream and are served all over the world. Given how easy they are to make and how delicious they can be, there is no reason not to include them in your life. So here are five healthy smoothie recipes that are as nutritious as they are tasty!

Summer fruits smoothie

This summer fruits smoothie is a classic. Full of flavour and natural goodness, you can, of course, vary the fruits you use as you see fit but summer or forest fruits work best.

• 100g frozen summer fruits
• 100g low-fat fruit yoghurt
• 30ml milk
• 10g porridge oats
• 1tsp honey (optional)

Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve.


Creamy mango and coconut smoothie

This creamy mango and coconut smoothie takes the vibrancy of a mango and the sweetness of coconut and combine to make a very refreshing drink that tastes great any time of day.

• 150ml coconut water
• 120g mango pieces
• 4tbsp of Greek yoghurt
• 1 banana
• 1tbsp of flax seed, pumpkin seed and sunflower seed mix

Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve.


Banana ginger smoothie

A healthy smoothie recipe with a kick, the smooth softness of the banana is complemented by the sharpness of fresh ginger. It certainly wakes you up.

• 1 banana
• 250ml of vanilla yoghurt
• 1tbsp honey
• ½tsp grated ginger

Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve.

Green tea, blueberry and banana smoothie

This green tea, blueberry, and banana smoothie brings
 superfoods together in a very healthy smoothie recipe. It tastes pretty good too.

• 3tbsp water
• 1 green tea bag
• 2tsp honey
• 125g frozen berries
• ½ banana
• 250ml milk

Boil the water and brew the teabag as if it were a cup of tea. Remove the teabag, stir in the honey. Add milk, berries and banana to the blender and mix. Add the tea and combine until smooth.


Mango smoothie

There is nothing like a fresh mango to start the day. Combine it with the goodness of yoghurt and the sweetness of honey and you have modern ambrosia.

• 1 fresh mango
• 85g
low fat yoghurt
• 200ml milk
• 1tsp honey
• 6 cardamom seeds

Skin and chop the mango, add to your blender and mix until smooth. Add the yoghurt, milk and honey. Serve and top with the cardamom seeds.
