With Christmas being less than a month away, we can’t help but direct our thoughts towards what we value most in the world; food. If you’re a foodie, like us, prepare yourself for the imminent drooling that will follow this blog post. Here are the 14 festive dishes we just can’t wait to feast upon.

1. Hot chocolate

You don’t have to be a chocoholic to appreciate and share our love for hot chocolate. Add some whipped cream and mini marshmallows on top and we’re sold.

2. Eggnog

Eggnog is tough to master – good thing there are some ready made versions in stores. Spike your eggnog with some rum to add that extra umph to it!

3. Mulled wine

Feeling cold? Give mulled wine a try! This warm red wine is guaranteed to warm your soul and assure you and your hubby have a jolly good time.

4. Turkey  

It’s not Christmas without some turkey. Whether you like it stuffed, wrapped in bacon or made of tofu, it has got to be part of the menu!

5. Pigs in a blanket

Did someone say bacon? Wrap us up because we can’t wait to get our hands on these pigs in a blanket!

6. Pumpkin soup

Nothing beats the hearty, ol’,  pumpkin soup. This dish is easy to make but hard hard to get over. We can’t get it out of our mind.

7. Roast potatoes

It’s Christmas, carbs are allowed. Especially if they’re deriving from yummy, roasted, potatoes. Add some butter and onions to the mix for an extra inch of flavor.

8. Pot pie

This dish is especially yummy if you’re a vegetarian looking to celebrate Christmas in taste! Add some mushrooms and spinach to your pot pie. Your taste buds will be thanking us.

9. Christmas log

What’s Christmas without some yummy log? Experiment with the ingredients, mix and match toppings and indulge in this yummy goodness with your loved ones.

10. Coconut balls

We might not have snow in Malta but coconut balls satisfy the white Christmas we’ve been wishing for.

11. Sugar cookies

Boy do we love our cookies. Bake some cookies with your family and get experimenting with the icing and sprinkles. These delights are fun and yummy, what a perfect combination!

12. Trifle

Just like our layers of clothes, a trifle’s layers are the perfect equation for a wonderful outcome. The fresh fruit, yummy cream and soft sponge will leave you wanting for a second serving.

13. Panettone

Although this delight originates from Milan, its delicious taste is no secret to Maltese families. What better than some panettone with a good cup of tea on Christmas morning?

14. Pudding

This Christmas staple isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it sure is ours! Throw some spirit in the mix and set the pudding on fire for a good party trick!
