Perfectly Peachy

Ideal season for peaches: May to September
Peaches and almonds complement each other amazingly well, which is why bringing them together in smoothie form is a great idea! Before the summer months breeze by, take advantage of peach season and make this gorgeous smoothie you will wish was never-ending.

Ingredients (for one generous portion):

2 peaches, 2 tablespoons oats
10 almonds
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 tablespoons hot water
ice cubes

Soak the almonds in room-temperature water overnight. Leave the oats in the hot water for 15 minutes until they soften. Place the almonds and oats, together with the other ingredients, in a blender and mix everything at high speed for 1 minute. Before blending, you could also add some other natural ingredients to sweeten the mixture. You can add a teaspoon tip of vanilla extract or a whole teaspoon of honey, depending on your personal taste.

Cool Cucumber

Ideal season for cucumbers: All year!
A zesty cucumber smoothie might not sound like the most appetising choice. But fusing the cucumber with apples or other similar fruit can create a vibrant and delicious green smoothie that will get you through any busy day! This cucumber smoothie recipe is rich in calcium, fibre and plenty of different vitamins.

Ingredients (for one generous portion):

1 small cucumber
1 apple (cored)
1 tablespoon minced ginger
a handful of spinach
freshly squeezed juice of 1 lime
1 cup of cold water.

Peel the cucumber, but not completely. Leave about half of the peel, so as not to lose the cucumber's essential nutrients. Chuck all the ingredients into a blender, and get ready to be rejuvenated! You can also add a tablespoon of honey or maple syrup to add sweetness to this green smoothie.

Gratifying Grapefruit

Ideal season for grapefruit: October to February
This smoothie recipe is the ultimate definition of healthy! Apart from the detoxifying benefits of the grapefruit, this gluten-free and vegan-friendly smoothie can also strengthen your immune system with the range of vitamins and minerals found in spinach. The accompanying banana and apple sweeten it all up, making this smoothie the right reset button if you've been slacking off on healthy eating.

Ingredients
(for 2 servings):

1 grapefruit (peeled, and seeds removed)
1 apple (cored)
2 cups spinach
1 ripe banana (previously sliced and frozen)
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger (peeled and chopped)
ice cubes

Before throwing everything into the blender, be sure that when you're removing the grapefruit's seeds, you keep the reserved juice and include it in the mixture. If the blended result is too thick, add more almond milk. Since grapefruit is usually quite sour, add more banana or apple to sweeten the mixture if necessary.
