With some Covid restrictions being officially lifted on the 10th of May, most of us are quite unsure on how to celebrate the love of our life's special day – Mother's Day.

Under normal circumstances, most of us would've opted to celebrate Mother's Day by going out for a lovely lunch or treat her to a full-blown spa day. However this year, with restaurant and spa trips being out of the question, we have compiled a list of activities to show our mums how much we appreciate and adore them.

1. Get Her A Plant

Plants last much longer than flowers, and they make amazing gifts for any plant lover. Find an all-year-round plant that can remind your mum of how amazing she is throughout the year. You can find a list of evergreen plants in this article. When visiting a nursery, you can pick out a comely plant pot to match. If your mum is not really a plant person, you could opt for a bouquet of fresh flowers instead.

2. Organise An At-Home Brunch Date

Boozy brunch dates with mum? Count us in. Whether you're planning on cooking or ordering a take-out, having brunch is a great option seeing as you can't take mum out to her favourite restaurant. You can find a range of cocktail recipes to try out on this article, and a selection of easy-to-do recipes here and here. If you're the go-big-or-go-home type, you can also bake some mouthwatering sweet treats for your special lady.

3. Get Some Fresh Air

Spend some quality time with the whole family on Mother's Day and go out for a stroll. You could plan a picnic or even go on a long and relaxing hike. If you're out of hike trail options, you can check out one of these two hike trails articles. If your mum is into history, you can visit some of these historical spots around the islands.

4. A Hamper Of Favourite Things

Whether it's filled with mum's favourite chocolates, a nice bottle of wine or some lush beauty products it's your choice – but a basket of favourite things is sure to be a hit with everyone. You can fill in a box or a wicker basket you have lying around with handmade gifts, candles, or even your mum's most beloved tea or coffee brand. You can purchase a ready-made hamper from several local shops as well.

5. Bake Something Sweet

Baking a cake or some cookies is a great way to show some love – especially if you cannot meet your mum right now. If you're not a fan of baking, you can try out one of these no-bake recipes, or you can check out these Facebook groups for some inspiration.
