Finding a great activity for everyone to engage in post-Christmas lunch is not always easy. If your kitchen has already been cleaned, and everyone is on the brink of a food-induced coma, but you do not want to waste your day idling about, check out this list of after-lunch activities for Christmas day.

1. Board Games

Whipping out your collection of board games is a surefire way to relax after you've stuffed yourself full with Christmassy treats. A good old round of Monopoly will get everyone out of their sleepy post-lunch mood in no time – especially if whoever is in charge of the bank is playing dirty.

You could plan this one ahead by asking your guests to bring over their own favourite board games. Popular choices that are easy to follow include Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, Battleship and Catan.

2. Christmas Movie Marathon

Ok so you might've over-over-ate a bit too much this year, and that's ok. Why not cosy up on the sofa with your whole family as you enjoy a slick post-food coma cocktail while watching a lovely Christmas movie? Whether you are looking for something for the whole family to enjoy or a movie that will turn the waterworks on, you can find a lovely choice on either one of these two lists.

3. Drinking Games

Drinking games are always a family or friends gathering favourite, so why not indulge in one of these frolics of choice after Christmas lunch is done? You can incorporate your drinking game with either the movie marathon mentioned above or with a card game.

4. Card Games

From Exploding Kittens to Cards Against Humanity or Gloom, there's nothing a pack of cards cannot make better. If you are more old fashioned, or you do not have access to any of these games, a regular pack of cards will do – almost every family's patriarch knows a good three or four card games which the whole family can indulge in.

5. Charades

Charades is a popular party game that entails a member of each team having to act out a phrase without uttering a single word. The objective of the game is for your team to guess the chosen phrase as quickly as possible. It can be a fun after-dinner or lunch activity for the whole family to join in.

6. Go For A Walk

Walking helps speed up the time it takes for you to digest food, and God knows you will need that after pigging out for hours on end. It also lowers the rates of heartburn and it helps to regulate your blood sugar pressure. If you are dry on ideas on where to go for a peaceful hike on Christmas day, you can check out this article on hike trails around Malta.
