Alternative Ideas For New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve tends to get a bit repetitive. You buy a ticket to a party, an outfit for the occasion and your expectations sometimes aren't met. Here are a few ideas how you could celebrate saying goodbye to 2016 and giving a warm welcome to 2017 without sticking to the cliche event!

Valletta

The capital city is always buzzing with exciting activities during the festive season and even more so on NYE! From 3D Architectural Mapping lights show on the facade of the Grandmaster's Palace, to live music, to an audiovisual countdown! Of course, the night wouldn't be complete without a Maltese traditional fireworks display.

Cosy Bar

Do you want to celebrate New Year's Eve out but away from the busy bustling of the crowds? Spend the night all cosied up in a little bar. You could either keep it small and intimate with your significant other or with a group of friends or even make new friends there. Maybe you'll even get to find a bartender who will whip up a special drink for you. Who knows? You might find the next best hangout where you'll spend 2017 in!

Sleep Over

You could also opt to keep things close to home, or better yet, close to your bed. Have a classic sleepover with friends. Watch movies, blast some music, stuff your faces in delicious takeout. There's nothing like having a night of fun spent in pyjamas!

Dinner Party

Again keeping it close to home, why not invite a couple of people over to your house? However, this time, celebrate New Year's Eve over a spread of delicious finger foods or sitting around a table enjoying a three-course meal. Why not also pop out some bubbly while busting some moves to music you will all surely like!

Stargazing

Go somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of New Year's Eve festivities. Pack a couple of snacks and a bottle of champagne in a picnic basket and don't forget a cosy blanket or two to keep warm. Drive to a spot where the stars shine brighter than anywhere else, sit back and
relax, while watching in awe the wonders of the night sky.

Venture Overseas

Instead of sticking to spending the New Year in Malta, take the weekend as an opportunity for a quick getaway to another destination. Spend the night in a big square surrounded by foreign cultures and architecture, which will surely add a hint of magic
to night. If you don't have the budget, you could always sneak away to the island of Gozo, book a farmhouse with some friends and have an intimate party to start off the year!
