5 things to do on a public holiday

Public holidays are both a free day off work and an opportunity to spend more time doing the things you enjoy, with the people you love. There are many things you can do during those beloved days off, here are a few ideas for you.

Catch up with your loved ones

Dedicate some of the day to catch up with the ones you love. Visit your parents, meet up with some good friends you don’t get to see too often. You can meet over a cup of warm tea at a coffee shop, or go out to dine, or simply stay in and visit each other’s homes. Due to the hectic lifestyles, we often feel like we don’t have ‘enough time’ to spend with the ones we love, so make the most of the public holiday to show your dear ones that you care for them.

Clean the mess

Are you always running from a place to the other and don’t seem to find the time to clear the kitchen table or put the dirty laundry in the washing machine? Well then, here’s what you can do during the public holiday. Use some of the free time you have on the day off to run the errands you don’t manage to keep up with during the rest of the week.

Have some ‘you’ time

Sometimes what you really need is to just sit down and relax, but with everything else happening it may be very difficult to shut down. Remember that you need to make time for yourself, in order to remain sane. Pamper yourself with a hot bath and a book, or order food and watch a DVD – as long as you do something you enjoy doing and that de-stresses you.

Go on an adventure

You don’t need to buy a plane ticket to feel adventurous. Malta has many beautiful spots that are worth seeing – if the weather permits all you need is a map of the island and mark the places you wish to see. You will be amazed at the things you will see if you go trekking along the countryside. Playing tourists at home can be very interesting and entertaining, so put on a comfortable pair of shoes and go exploring.

Indoor activities

If the weather doesn’t allow you to do outdoor activities, you can always opt for some indoor ones. Most shops open during the public holiday, and you can still find sales and offers – perfect for those who are in need of getting some shopping done. Alternatively, you can go watch one of the latest movies released at the cinema.
