We enjoy moments such as the ones on the beach getting to experience a nice day with family members and friends. The best place to do it are the ones where you can relax and have a drink at rather than on the sand itself.

Lidos & Beach Clubs in Malta and Gozo

Who doesn't yearn for a Mediterranean summer experience? Sun, sand and sea - the reasons behind Malta's reputation as an idyllic summer destination. Tourists from all around the world flock to experience the Mediterranean summer and locals dash to the nearest beaches to take a break from the summer heat. If you're not a fan of beaches, you need not distress. The Maltese Islands are swamped with a wide range of luxurious and peaceful beach clubs and lidos which will make your summer as memorable as it can get.

You deserve a lazy day once in a while, so why not spend it relaxing by a picturesque pool in one of the summer venues located all around Malta and Gozo? Why go abroad in summer when you can book a day by the pool in Malta and spend some well deserved time lounging, swimming and sunbathing? Grab your sunglasses, swimsuit and tanning lotion and you're good to go.

What do beach clubs offer?

A large number of beach clubs and lidos strive to offer a comprehensive service. From swimming areas to lounging decks, dining facilities, selection of beach bars and shower facilities, you'll have anything you require in close proximity.

If the summer heat is getting on your nerves, it might be the right time to go for a swim at one of the beach clubs around Malta. You can choose from the variety of indoor pools, scenic outdoor pools and hotel rooftop pools. If you feel like a peaceful day, opting for an adults only swimming pool is a more feasible option than going to a family pool brimming with children. The pool area generally overlooks picturesque quiet beaches and due to the close proximity to the sea, some may offer access to their own private beaches or to enclosed public swimming zones. If the lido gets too crowded to swim in, you can then decide to dip into the refreshing Mediterranean Sea.

Sun loungers and sun shades can be found all around the water's edge. Whether you want to sunbathe, catch up on your latest book or just admire the striking sea views, you can do so in comfort while sipping on your favourite cocktail or any other drink. No need to prepare packed lunches, as most beach clubs would have a restaurant, snack bar or lounge bar. On the other hand, you can opt for an all-inclusive day by the pool with included lunch.

Some beach clubs provide changing facilities and showers and hotel lidos may also have jacuzzi and massage facilities available.

While most beach clubs would have a chilled ambience during the day, a number of them host parties or offer entertainment in the evening. A number of lidos also offer a variety of summer sports, including kayaking, water skiing, and paddle boats.

Where are the best beach clubs located?

Most beach clubs in Malta are located in exquisite coastal locations and overlook popular sandy and rocky beaches with scenic country and sea views. A number of them form part of popular hotels, resorts and restaurants, and are generally located in touristic areas such as St Julians, Sliema, Bugibba and Mellieha. You'll definitely be enjoying the most picturesque settings and you'll never want summer to end.

When are beach clubs open?

The majority of beach clubs open their doors around April or May when the summer season starts approaching and remain open until September/October, just before the rainy season picks up in Malta. Opening hours will vary so check out their respective websites and social media pages before visiting. A number of them may just open in the weekend or just in the evenings when the demand is higher. However, regardless of the day and time you feel like going, you'll definitely find a beach club open in summer. If you feel like doing some late night swimming or sunset watching, a number of lidos remain open till late.

Need to organise a private event?

Planning a private celebration? Certain beach clubs provide you with the option of booking the pool area for any private function or beach party and any corporate event. Be it a birthday party or a wedding you want to organise, a few venues provide a tailored package to suit all your requirements.

Pricing & Membership

How much would a relaxing day by the pool cost you? Day by the pool prices vary from one club to another and according to the season. On Sundays and public holidays, entrance fees tend to be higher than during the week, and the months of April/May would be cheaper than the peak summer months. Entrance fee would customarily include a sun-bed, beach umbrella, use of showers and access to food and beverage outlets.

When it comes to hotel pools, you will have complimentary entrance to the hotel lido if you're a guest at the same hotel. These same pools would still be open to the general public against an entrance fee. Most clubs offer daily, monthly and seasonal pool memberships and special packages for couples and families. Day memberships start from as little as 10 euro but will go up accordingly. Check out websites and social media pages for updated rates and fees.

If you have a tight budget, we suggest you book a half day instead of a full day by the pool and go during the week instead of on Sundays so you can still enjoy a relaxing day.

Check out the range of lidos and beach clubs you can visit in Malta for a truly comprehensive summer experience. Do book in advance as these venues will get quite busy and you don't want to be disappointed. Paradise is just a phone call away!
