Learn all about Hermann Bonnici BE&A(Hons), MScArchCons(Edin), A&CE, Art Restoration & Conservation in Attard, - Malta
Cultural heritage is something which every individual should take to heart. As a source of both national and international pride with regard to what humans have achieved and continue to achieve, cultural heritage serves as a direct, physical link with the past of an individual nation, people group, or even the world as a whole. How we treat cultural heritage in the form of physical objects and artefacts says a considerable amount about how we as individuals, societies and as a whole planet view and appropriate, or even ignore and disregard our past achievements and accomplishments. As such, the value in the restoration and conservation of both art and architectural surfaces is something which cannot be overstated or overvalued.
Hermann Bonnici, BE&A (Hons), MScArchCons (Edin), A&CE is a highly qualified individual specialising in the restoration and conservation of art and artefacts, most especially with regard to architecture and architectural surfaces. Read MoreHaving been born locally in Malta, I identify with the rich and impressive history our nation has had. Few places can boast of such a timeline of historical settlements and developments through the course of multiple millennia. However in many cases these surfaces, artefacts and archaeological sites require maintenance and a passion for history and cultural heritage in order to be maintained and protected.
My work includes both historic and recent conservation work, most especially here on the Maltese islands. As recently as 2007 I was a runner up in the award for excellent conservation and restoration involving the 17th century Sarriah Church, which is dedicated to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. In recent history I have held the post as Chief Architect in the Restoration Directorate of the Project Design and Implementation Department. I have furthermore been involved in multiple restoration projects concerning fortifications in both Malta and Gozo, including the old city walls of Valletta.
