People make the mistake of assuming that Mediterranean cuisine are only dishes like hummus, pitta bread, tabbouleh, baba ganoush and kofte. Although these dishes are in fact Mediteranean, they are just a very small part of the vast food options the Med has to offer from other countries surrounding its seas. Mediterranean cuisine is one of the healthiest in the world and is mostly prepared with the freshest ingredients.
Malta is home to fantastic Mediterranean cuisine and we at Grand Hotel Excelsior can prove just that. Our restaurants will give you an authentic taste of The Med to be enjoyed close to the sea. We have three restaurants under one roof, each with highly-qualified chefs that are exceptionally passionate about what they do.
At Spiced Island, we offer a Sunday Lunch Buffet with a nice selection of Mediterranean dishes. On the menu you’ll find a display of marinated seafood and shellfish, pumpkin and provolone cheese ravioli, dill and lime marinated fresh salmon, grilled sea bass, lemon and rosemary marinated chicken breast and more.
At the elegant Admirals Landing restaurant within our hotel, the menu offers international dishes with a strong Mediterranean twist. For starters, guests can expect mackerel escabeche, pan-seared monkfish cheeks, shellfish soup, octopus tagliatelle and risotto with parsley puree, confit chicken, homemade pancetta and parmesan. Mains come in the form of confit byaldi (with aubergine, courgette, onions and red pepper coulis) and baked stone bass (to name a few).
The third eatery under our roof is the exotic-looking Tiki Bar & Restaurant with stunning sea views. The starter options includes a selection of bruschetta, caprese, mussels hot pot and warm octopus salad. A wide variety of pastas, grilled meat and seafood dishes are what you can expect as mains.
So if you’re ever in the mood for delicious food that pays homage to real Mediterranean cuisine, choose from either one of our restaurants. We guarantee a memorable dining experience.
