4 tips to prepare your POS system for the summer sale
Setting up your POS system by making the most out of its features will present you with added efficiency and better management of your store. Most modern systems can nowadays be easily integrated with various services. Whether you have a cloud-based or hybrid POS system in your store, here are five tips to prepare it for the summer sale.
1. Get it serviced
You need to get your system serviced and checked beforehand. This will ensure that your store will run as efficiently as possible. If there are any new items that you need to add to your system, do so prior to the store opening so that you will be able to avoid any nasty surprises or backlog.
2. Check compatibility issues
Make sure that all of your components work well together. Test out your card reader terminal and make sure that your POS system is perfectly integrated with your credit card processor. If you are using tablets, make sure that their system supports any other equipment which you hold in store. You should also check to see that all of your accounting software is up to date in order to find out if there are any extra costs that you will incur beforehand.
3. Make sure your operating system is up to date
Whether you are using an iOS or an Android system, make sure that all updates are done prior to the start of the sale. This will present you with a POS system that does not lag, slow down or crash. Check all of your plugins and make sure that your system connects well to any third-party software which you are using. It is important to also present your internet connection with any necessary tests or checks on the day.
4. Set up your hardware
Your receipt printer, bar code scanners, inventory printers and PIN debit pads need to be checked. This also goes for the cash drawer and other accessories which you hold in your store. It would be a nightmare if you have to run a store during summer sale with a jammed up cash drawer or a dysfunctional barcode scanner.
